Just Let Me Be - Julienne Taylor

For me this is one of the most depressing songs out there.

Just Let Me Be - This song was played at my Papa's (Granddad's) funeral. If you listen to the lyrics it's technically a break up song. However for, and the rest of my family it is about loss.

It is a beautiful song, but I can't listen to it without crying. For me, music can inspire any emotion imaginable, the same song can inspire different things in different people. You may listen to this song and find that it helps you recover from a bad break up.

Most of the time I bottle everything inside, when it becomes to much I have a tendency to listen to a playlist of the songs from the funeral, get drunk and cry myself to sleep.

So, try this song out and see what it inspires in you.

Safe & Sound - Taylor Swift ft. The Civil Wars

Okay not really an excuse but my kid is on his school holidays so...yeah, totally forgot to add more posts.

Safe & Sound - Taylor Swift ft. The Civil Wars. So July was just completely forgotten in terms of new posts, August...August isn't really a good month for me. My wedding anniversary at the end of the month is the only good thing, the rest of the month is just bad memories.

I cried myself to sleep a fair few times, this being one of the songs I did it to.

Now the song itself actually has more of a hopeful, I'll-protect-you, vibe to it. But I suppose that's why I was crying to it. It reminds me strongly of the person I lost long ago. He was my protector and my hero and this song speaks to the hole he left behind.

If you're feeling down about something, this song may help you find a way to feel strong again. So check it out and see if speaks to you.

High School Never Ends - Bowling For Soup

I know this is a departure from my usual type of music but I like a lot of their stuff.

High School Never Ends - Bowling For Soup

This song is very catchy, both the lyrics and the tune. It's all about the cliques and stereotypes found in high school and how they carry over into life afterwards. It's a funny song and is even funnier if you watch the video for it.

These guys have a lot of great songs, so if you've never heard of them, you're missing out.
Check out the song, and video, and see if you like it as much as I do.

Stay The Night - Zedd ft. Hayley Williams

A brilliant collab between two brilliant artists.

Stay The Night - Zedd ft. Hayley Williams

I was listening to my YouTube mix that I've dubbed 'Upbeat' and this came round to playing. When it first came out I was hooked. It got me interested in both artists individually - so I also found a bunch of other great tracks I now love. The dance track I very catchy and bop-along-y.
The lyrics put this into the category of a 'hook up' song. The video is really well done and has two amazing dancers centre stage really bringing the song to life.

Check it out, refresh your memory and see if it sticks in you mind again.

On a side note, I got another new nephew in the time since my last post! He spent a couple of extra days in hospital due to a slight breathing problem but now he's home and doing great.

See You Again - Wiz Khalifa ft. Charlie Puth (Kina Grannis Cover)

This song really needs no introduction.

See You Again - Kina Grannis Cover.

The first time I heard this I was struck by how hauntingly beautiful and perfect it was. Written in memory of Paul Walker the song talks about the value of friendship and family and is written as a message to a missing friend.

There are many covers of this, I've watched a fair few of them on YouTube, but for me Kina Grannis' cover is the one that has the same captivating, heart breaking edge to it.
Kina has her own albums out and I've been a fan of hers for a few years now. She has a lot of other covers on her YouTube channel as well as all her own songs.

Go check her out and give them a spin as well as listening to this cover.

Shut Up & Dance - Walk On The Moon

I'm completely bopping along to this and not caring how I look.

Shut Up & Dance - Walk On The Moon This is a total party tune, I can see it getting everyone on their feet regardless if they've been drinking or not.
It's a song about throwing yourself into love and embracing the downsides with the ups. The lyrics are very catchy and I love the video. I particularly love the line - 'deep in her eyes, I think I see the future'.
If this comes on when I'm out I'll be dragging my friends into the dance floor.

There is a brilliant acapella cover of this by Alex G & Mike Tompkins on YouTube. They've turned it into an amazing cover so go check that out as well as the original.

I dare you to resist playing this more than once.

When You Sleep - Mary Lambert

I've been listening to this for nearly two hours.

When You Sleep - Mary Lambert

This is a beautiful song, it has an elegant simplicity to it that just draws you in. I dithered on whether or not to click on the recommend on YouTube and I'm so glad I did.
It talks of wondering if 'this thing' is real or a dream. Another line asks 'how did I miss you, when I didn't know you'.
To me that sums up the song. It reminds of the times you have a dream that's so real, when you wake up you're surprised and want nothing more than to go to sleep again.

Check this song out and if it's addictive for you.

Somthing's Got A Hold On Me - Christina Aguilera

I love just about every song in this movie.

Something's Got A Hold On Me - Christina Aguilera (Burlesque)

I could have chosen any song from this movie but this one popped up on the random 'listen again' thing on YouTube and caught my eye.

I am aware this is a cover, and I love the original as well! And yes, I had heard it before the movie version. Right from the very first 'oh' Christina grabs your attention and doesn't let go for the rest of the movie. As always she has an amazing voice. And of course the ever brilliant Cher is also in this movie and has a song of her own. If you don't know the movie - go check it out, even if it's only for the music!

This song is about getting caught up the feeling of love for the first time. it's about the 'shaking and feeling strange'. The talks of being changed by love in every way, about something being different when walking and 'sounding sweeter' when talking.

Just as a warning there will be other Christina songs on here eventually. I get hooked every time I listen her - check the song out and see if you get hooked on this.

Say You Love Me - Jessie Ware

I'm a fan of the voice and I loved Sasha's cover of this.

Say You Love Me - Jessie Ware

So Sasha's cover might have gotten me to do this post but I was already in love with this song. Jessie has an amazing voice and the simple backing really shows it off. Plus the video is nice a simple as well.

The song is about wanting a deeper connection, a deeper and more meaningful love. It's about holding back if the other person isn't willing to give it their all, but loving them anyway. The song has a sort of a sad tone to it but also a sort of urgent hope.

Check the song out, and Jessie's other stuff as well, and see if it ends up on a loop.

Wanderer's Lullaby - Adriana Figueroa

I stumbled across this whilst browsing on YouTube.

Wanderer's Lullaby - Adriana Figueroa

This YouTube artist has a unique sounding voice. She has a lot of covers on her profile from a variety of different things, games, movies, anime and current music as well.
This original song is beautiful. It is encouraging and hopeful. The song encourages you to be yourself, to ignore what others want you to be and those who put you down. The chorus talks of being 'the dawn of a new day' speaking of being unfinished and just beginning.

This lullaby is simple, elegant and peaceful. I could (and have) listened to it all night. If you're feeling down about yourself please listen to this, it's just right for those kind of moments. Or even if you have suffered a set back of some kind.

This song is proof positive that sometimes it's worth clicking on the unknown singers. Check this out and you're almost guaranteed to put it on repeat.

Gravity - DJ Fresh ft. Ella Eyre

I'm totally in love with Ella Eyre's hair, but it would look awful on me.

Gravity - DJ Fresh ft. Ella Eyre

So this is another song that's been out a while now, but I still love it. It's still regularly played on radio and music channels.
This song has parts with little more than Ella's lovely voice and others that really show DJ Fresh's talents as well. I can't help but sing along to this every time it's on. It's starts off slow and builds up into the first chorus with the main beat really coming to the front then.
The song is about knowing someone completely and not being held down by anything. The video has a bit of a Bonnie and Clyde feel to it. With the two 'main characters' shooting someone at a gas (petrol) station and driving off with a load of money eventually being chased by police. There are some epic scenery shots in the video which make it great to watch.

Check the song out, and the video, and see if you love it as much as I do.

On an unrelated note - there was a longer gap between posts because I got a gorgeous new nephew! He's so tidgy! You really forget how small babies start out.

Hold My Hand - Jess Glyne

I don't usually like the more dance-y stuff but this is brilliant.

Hold My Hand - Jess Glyne  has a great beat to it. It starts with just Jess' great voice a few notes on a piano and a little backing. It really emphasises the amazing voice that helped Rather Be become a massive hit.

I wasn't keen on her last solo single but this is catchy and I find myself nodding my head along with the beat and mimicking the backing vocals at the start. it's recently done a massive jump up the charts and will most likely go even higher.

The song talks about not being alone and about being ready to be with someone and rely on them to help you when you need it. As I said before the beat is good but it doesn't drown out the lyrics, which are catchy (really need a new way to say that) and well written.

Anyhow, check out this latest track from a great singer, see if it ends getting played again and again.

Grenade - Bruno Mars

This is a good song for when you're down in the dumps.

Grenade - Bruno Mars. It's even good for when you've just got out of a relationship that didn't end very well.

The song is beautiful despite the sad tone to it. It speaks of uneven relationships, one person giving everything they have and the other doing nothing but take without giving back. I can't help but put this on repeat sometimes. Bruno's voice is amazing and I love most of his stuff. Not as keen on Uptown Funk though - which I'm sure puts me in the minority.

There is an amazing cover of this song by Alexa Goddard. There's even a vid on YouTube of Bruno listening to it and loving it! Talk about compliments. Alexa has a song called Marilyn that I like which is also really catchy.

Check both these songs out and see what you think.

The Nights - Avicii

I think it may just be impossible to hate anything by this guy.

The Nights - Avicii is a brilliant track. I already know 90% of the lyrics by heart. I can't help but sing along, it's well on the way to becoming as much of an anthem as Wake Me Up.

The lyrics have an amazing message to them about living while you and making it worth while. This combined with a great tune (track...whatever) make it dig firmly into your mind and stick there. Singing all the while. I even woke up humming it to myself this morning.

Even if you aren't an Avicii fan or a fan of this type of music check it out for the lyrics. Give it a listen and see if it ends up being put on repeat.

King Of The World - Blue

I wasn't sure about this at first but now I really like it.

King Of The World - Blue

I wasn't a massive fan of Blue when they were around the first time, my sister was though so I am familiar with their music and liked the group well enough.

This song is a brilliant love track and is very catchy with easy to remember lyrics. It is about a man asking for another chance and it talks of being King Of The World with the right person beside you.

Even if you aren't boy(or guy) group fan you should give this song a run through. The lovely looking guys of Blue still have the vocals that made them a hit the last time and are well worth listening to.

I'm An Albatraoz - Aronchupa

This song is so catchy.

I'm An Albatraoz - Aronchupa has been out for a few months now and I'm still hooked. The lyrics make almost no sense whatsoever but I'm still find myself singing along and bopping my head around a bit.

The video is good as well with a few dance moves by the main singer that night catch on. The singer has a good voice and the DJ is great. I'll admit to not knowing anything about Aronchupa past this song but I plan on seeing what else is out there by them.

Check out the hour long/ten hour long videos on YouTube (only available in some countries) and see if you get hooked as well.

You'll Be In My Heart - Celtic Woman (Originally from Tarzan)

You'll Be In My Heart - Celtic Woman

This song is originally by Phil Collins for Disney's Tarzan however this lullaby style version by the group Celtic Woman is so amazingly pure and heart warming I can't help but prefer it to the original.

The members of Celtic Woman all have beautiful voices and they make this song their own, all the while keeping aspects of the original that are recognisable to us. Gone is the upbeat guitar and other accompaniments, instead the first verse and chorus have almost no music in them, giving focus to the main singer. Then the drums start in that recognisable beat and things pick up from there.

Celtic Woman have a lot of songs out there, all done with amazing vocals and music. Go check them out even if it's not your usual style of music. The songs are very catchy.

Let It Go - Frozen - Idina Menzel

So. Unless you've been hiding......well I don't think there's anywhere you could have escaped the Frozen fever that gripped the world and still holds a tight grip on us.

Let It Go - Idina Menzel (Frozen)

The original version is stunning and I think just about everyone knows the lyrics - I know my whole family does, even my Nan that hasn't even seen the film (I know - my son is horrified by that fact too).

Idina (and the writers) have given us a song that's joined a long list of unforgettable Disney anthems. However I know I'm not alone in trawling YouTube for the numerous covers that have been done. There are dozens of them, with millions of hits on most of them - and I'm totally addicted to them.

This sort of classifies of a Song On Repeat even if it's by different artists.

You'll most likely have your own favourite cover(s) but I'm going to list a few of mine in no particular order. Please go check out these amazing singers if you haven't already heard their renditions.

Jannina put a slight spin on the song and really makes it her own. She has other vids on YouTube that are well worth watching as well.

Caleb Hyles - oh my god. How this man is not on Broadway I'll never know. He has a powerful voice and is an amazing singer. Caleb's version is exactly what you would expect if Elsa had been a guy. He has other Disney song covers on his channel and some other amazing songs as well.
I'm gushing about him a bit but I don't care. Seriously. Check him out already.

Alex Boye gives an Africanised version featuring the One Voice Children's Choir and with Lexi Walker doing main vocals. Lexi has a strong and beautiful voice and she fits perfectly with the choral backing. The video is nice to watch as well - Alex really puts a lot into his vids.

There are others that I also love but these three are my top ones. Check them out and see if you love them just as much.

Never Close Our Eyes - Adam Lambert

Never Close Our Eyes - Adam Lambert

It's all over Now Music channel, currently being played as part of their Most Tweeted 20 playlist. I live under a rock most of the time, I stumbled across Adam after finding Runnin', but I loved that and when Never Close Our Eyes started playing I loved that as well.

Technically this isn't a Song On Repeat (yet) but I have rewound Sky a few times to listen to it again. It's a very catchy tune with a good beat in the background. I don't go to clubs but I reckon it would be very good for the dance floor.
The chorus is very catchy and after only a  couple of times hearing it I was humming along to it.

Adam is apparently going to be the 'Most Eligible Bachelor' and he's certainly as good looking as ever in the video.

Check it out, for the song not just the guy, and see it you end up bopping along to it.

Nightingale - Demi Lovato

Okay - so first Song On Repeat.

Nightingale - Demi Lovato.

I must have listened to this song a few dozen times in a few hours. This song has a sort of hopeful tone to it. It has quieter parts and parts where Demi shows off her powerful voice. The lyrics talk about being lost and wanting to be found.

Check it out and see if you love it or hate it. Or if you even put it on repeat.
